When individuals purchase insurance, they do so with the expectation that their insurance carrier will be there for them in their time of need. Unfortunately, this is not always the case, and insurance carriers sometimes fail to pay out legitimate claims.
Please reach us at office@jdtitan.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
We provide a report to your carrier which details the scope of damage and the local codes that require certain processes or materials to be used in the repair process. Field Adjusters frequently miss items that are damaged or are required to be replaced.
When the customer agrees to use JD Titan Roofing to perform their repairs, there is no charge. If the customer violates the agreement there is a fee that covers the time spent preparing the estimate, and meeting with adjusters or engineers.
Absolutely not. Our agreements allow us to discuss your claim and damage details with your carrier. We strongly advise against signing any AOB "Assignment of Benefits" or Power of Attorney. There are many roofing companies in Mobile that will say they are required, but once you sign them, you may lose control of your claim. HERE is what the State of Alabama says about AOB's.
If you suspect your property has sustained damage you should first file a claim with your carrier. This can be done online or over the phone with most carriers. You should request a Claim Number and an appointment time with the carrier's field adjuster to inspect the damage. You should also review your policy, and understand your limits for certain coverages and the deductibles that apply. Any Policy questions should be directed to your Insurance Agent or your Legal Counsel.
Pictures are worth a million words. Take pictures of damage outside, the roof, your metal gutters, the AC units, and broken limbs. Do not dispose of any damaged items until the field adjuster has documented them. Take pictures inside, and pay attention to any cracks and stains on your ceilings. It is very important to take pictures before any tarping or other mitigation occurs. It is advised that video also be taken.
Most policies will require that you provide for mitigating further damage to your property.
This may include tarping a hole on your roof or removing a fallen tree from your structure.
It is good advice to hire a State Licensed and Insured contractor to perform these services. You should save all invoices, receipts and contracts you have for work done.
You have the right to choose any State Licensed contractor to perform your repairs. JD Titan Roofing of Mobile is a Alabama Unlimited Builder that can contract to perform any repairs that may be needed. Be wary of companies only holding a "roofers license" as they are not allowed to make structural repairs. In an effort to save time, and assure your damage is properly documented it is advised that your contractor meet with the field adjuster during the initial inspection. This assures that all damage gets documented on the first damage report.
Insurance Companies and Reputable Contractors use a system called Xactimate to assess value to damaged items on your property. You should be provided this report by your carrier after the initial inspection. This report will include line items, certain values, and quantities. JD Titan Roofing of Mobile has experienced staff that review these reports daily, checking for inaccurate data, misplaced line items and items that have been edited to lower your claim amount. Xactimate is a complicated software, that requires years of experience to master. Most smaller companies do not have the staff or the costly subscription to use it. JD Titan Roofing makes sure that all damaged items get listed properly, with the local building code requirements to validate the item has to be replaced.
The State of Alabama has Codified certain rights that you have as a consumer. It also requires that the contractor provide you with certain documents before beginning any work. These documents include your rights of rescission, notification of insurance, and valid written contracts. You may click HERE to access more information on the contractor's requirements.
"...A residential roofing contractor shall not represent or negotiate, or offer or advertise to represent or negotiate, on behalf of an owner or possessor of residential real estate on any insurance claim in connection with the repair or replacement of roof systems."
JD Titan Roofing of Mobile does not negotiate your claim, nor will we represent you during your claims process. We will simply provide common public information, a valid damage report, and Building Code Requirements.
